Montebello, Wednesday March 9th, 2011  –  Outaouais Rock is proud to announce the addition of Descendents and Pennywise to the bill of the sixth edition of D-TOX Rockfest, which takes place in Montebello, Quebec June 15-19.  This follows the announcements of NOFX, Lamb Of God and Underoath earlier this year.

Formed in 1978, California punk-rock legends Descendents will offer a rare performance at the festival on June 17th.  D-TOX Rockfest will be the Hermosa Beach band’s only stop in Quebec and its first one since 1997.  After waiting for 14 years, this is an exclusive opportunity for fans not to be missed!
Another legendary band from Hermosa Beach will also be performing at the festival: Pennywise!  After over 20 years of existence, the influential punk-rock group will be back this summer for this exclusive performance in Canada at D-TOX Rockfest.

’’We’re very happy to announce the addition of Descendents and Pennywise at this year’s D-TOX Rockfest,’’ says Alex Martel, president and founder of the festival.  ‘’We’re confident that any punk-rock fan that still wasn’t 100% convinced will now be counting days before the festival starts!’’

Other festival additions include three Fat Wreck Chords alumni bands: Montreal’s The Sainte Catherines, Wyoming’s Teenage Bottlerocket and California’s Old Man Markley.  Local favorites Insurrection and Aarsen will be part of the Third Stage headliners.  Last but not least, D-TOX Rockfest will host Envol et Macadam’s  Planetrox auditions on Sunday June 19th at Bar chez Mo’ as part of its intimate shows.

Over 100 bands will be performing at the sixth installment of the festival on its main outdoor stages (June 17-18) as well as at intimate indoor venues (June 15-19).  The festival organizers are once again working on putting together a very diverse bill featuring many more international bands, as well as Quebec’s cream of the crop and the best up-and-coming local acts.  The camping areas will also be expanded.

Put together by Outaouais Rock, the festival has been growing consistently in the last couple of years, doubling or tripling its attendance every year.  Known for its impressively diverse line-ups, low ticket price, festive atmosphere and beautiful scenery right by the Outaouais River, Rockfest is quickly becoming a summer tradition.  Located only 75 minutes from Montreal and 50 minutes from Ottawa, Rockfest is easily accessible for everyone.  The festival recently won the Ovation Prize at Quebec’s prestigious Tourism Awards in the Festivals and Tourist Events category, as well as the Arts & Culture Prize at the Chamber Of Commerce Awards.
The festival will be part of the Planet Quebec project that will be showcasing bands at Austin, Texas’ South by Southwest this month.

Full announcement, press conference and general on-sale coming up in late March, with a few other announcements in the meantime.  D-TOX ROCKFEST 2011 : June 17-18 at the Montebello marina, June 15-19 in local venues.
